How to Create a Google Review QR Code for Free (Step by Step, 2026)

Short answer: open your Google Business Profile on a computer, click Read reviews → Get more reviews, and Google shows your review link and a free QR code. Download the QR code, print it with a clear message such as "Scan to review us on Google", and place it where customers finish their visit — the billing counter, invoice, table or packaging. When a customer scans it, the Google review box opens directly.

Why a Google review QR code works

Most happy customers are willing to leave a review — they just won't search for your business, find the profile and hunt for the review button. A QR code removes every step: scan → tap stars → write → post.

More reviews help you:

  • Rank higher in Google Maps and the local pack ("near me" searches)
  • Win more clicks and calls, because people trust businesses with many recent reviews
  • Get honest feedback you can act on

Before you start

  • You need a verified Google Business Profile. The review link and QR code only appear for verified profiles. Not set up yet? Follow how to create a Google Business Profile.
  • Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the profile.
  • Use a computer (laptop or desktop). Google says the QR code can only be generated in a computer browser; on a phone you can still copy and share the review link.

How to create a Google review QR code (step by step)

4 steps to get your free Google review QR code: open your profile, click Read reviews, click Get more reviews, download the QR code
4 steps to get your free Google review QR code: open your profile, click Read reviews, click Get more reviews, download the QR code

Step 1: Open your Business Profile

On a computer, search Google for your exact business name (or "my business") while signed in. Your Business Profile management panel appears at the top of the results.

Step 2: Click "Read reviews"

In the profile panel, open the Reviews section by clicking Read reviews.

Step 3: Click "Get more reviews"

Click the Get more reviews button (it may show as a share icon). A box opens with your review link and options to share it.

Step 4: Download the QR code

Choose the QR code option and download it (or right-click the image and select Save image as). You can also copy the short review link — it usually looks like g.page/r/…/review — for WhatsApp, SMS and email.

Step 5: Test it

Scan the QR code with two or three different phones (Android and iPhone). It should open the review box with your business name, not just your Maps listing.

If you only have a phone, open the Google Maps app or Google Search while signed in to the owner account, open your profile, go to the Reviews or Customers section and tap Get more reviews or Ask for reviews to share the link. Then use a trusted QR generator on a computer later, or ask someone with a laptop to download Google's QR code for you.

Tip: don't share your normal Google Maps link. It opens your listing, and customers have to look for the review button themselves. Always use the link from the Get more reviews screen.

Where to place your review QR code

Put it where the customer has just had a good experience and has a minute to spare:

  1. Billing counter or reception — a small standee or acrylic stand
  2. Invoices and receipts — print the QR at the bottom of every bill
  3. Restaurant and café tables — on table tents or next to your QR menu
  4. Product packaging and thank-you cards — great for online orders
  5. Clinic, salon and spa — at the exit or on the appointment card
  6. Visiting cards and brochures — the back side works well
  7. WhatsApp follow-up — send the review link after delivery or service
  8. Email signature and website footer — the link, not the QR

India tip: many shops keep the UPI payment QR on the counter. Keep the review QR separate and clearly labelled ("Google review — not for payment") so customers don't scan the wrong one.

Design tips so more people scan it

  • Add a clear call to action: "Loved our service? Scan to review us on Google ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
  • Print it large enough: at least 2.5 × 2.5 cm on cards and bills, and 8–10 cm on counter standees and posters
  • High contrast: dark QR on a light background; don't put it on a busy photo
  • Leave white space around the code (the "quiet zone")
  • Add your logo and Google colours around the code — not on top of it
  • Laminate it so it doesn't fade or get torn
  • Test after printing — printing can blur small codes

Free Google QR code vs third-party QR generators

  • Google's QR code is free, official and points straight to your review form. It never expires.
  • Third-party "dynamic" QR codes let you change the destination later and count scans, but many free plans stop working when a trial ends — and every printed code then breaks. If you use one, choose a provider you trust and keep paying, or stick with Google's own code.

How to ask for reviews (without breaking Google's rules)

Google wants reviews to reflect real customer experiences. To stay safe:

  • Ask everyone, not only happy customers. Filtering out unhappy customers ("review gating") goes against Google's policies.
  • Don't offer rewards — discounts, gifts or cashback in exchange for reviews.
  • Don't write reviews yourself or ask staff, friends or agencies to post fake ones.
  • Don't ask for reviews in bulk from one device or location, like a tablet at your counter that customers type on.
  • Reply to every review, good and bad, politely and within a few days.

Breaking these rules can get reviews removed and, in serious cases, put restrictions on your profile.

Simple scripts you can use

  • At the counter: "If you liked our service, could you scan this and leave us a quick Google review? It really helps a small business like ours."
  • On WhatsApp: "Hi {Name}, thank you for choosing {Business}! If you have a minute, please share your experience here: {review link} 🙏"

What to do after the reviews start coming in

  • Reply to each review, mentioning the service or product naturally.
  • Fix the problems people mention, then reply to say what you changed.
  • Post updates and photos on your profile every week to stay active.
  • Track your review count and rating every month.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Google review QR code free?

Yes. Google provides the review link and QR code free of charge inside your Business Profile. You don't need any paid tool.

Why can't I see the "Get more reviews" button?

Your profile is probably not verified yet, or you are signed in with an account that doesn't manage the profile. Verify the profile and sign in with the owner or manager account.

Can I create the QR code on my phone?

Google says the QR code can only be generated in a computer browser. On a phone you can copy and share the review link, and turn it into a QR code later on a computer.

Does the Google review QR code expire?

No. Google's QR code points to your permanent review link, so it keeps working as long as your Business Profile exists.

Can I give a discount to customers who leave a review?

No. Offering incentives for reviews goes against Google's policies and can get the reviews removed. Ask every customer politely instead.

How many reviews do I need to rank on Google Maps?

There is no fixed number. Rankings depend on relevance, distance and prominence. More genuine, recent reviews — with replies from you — help with prominence, especially compared with nearby competitors.

Can you design and print review QR standees for my business?

Yes. As part of our Google Business Profile management we set up your profile, create branded review QR cards and standees, and manage review replies. Contact us to get started.
